MASHUP MAYHEM! Every Game Inside of Every Game
Minecraft in Elden Ring, Link playing soccer, Spider-Man swinging through Los Santos: the best mashups, and why they're exploding now.

Not even a week ago, someone put Minecraft inside Elden Ring. Since then, the internet has been putting every game inside every other game. Link is playing soccer. Trevor from GTA is web-swinging through Los Santos, in his underwear. Somebody brought a machine gun to World of Warcraft. And one guy crammed eleven games into one. Today, we're giving the mashups the attention they deserve. Grab a controller. Actually, grab several.
I'm Nora, and this is the mashup episode. Every clip you'll see is real, made by fans, and posted in the last week. Some are deep rebuilds. Some are two games duct-taped together, running at the same time. Let's play.
First up: FIFA, inside Ocarina of Time. It's called Soccerina of Time, and yes, that is the real name. The stadium is the Sacred Forest Meadow. The home team is Kokiri FC, which the scoreboard shortens to K-F-C. So, live from the forest, it's KFC versus Kakariko City. KFC fields Link, Mido as captain, Saria, Skull Kid, a Deku Scrub, and the kid who stands on the roof. Kakariko City is Impa, the cucco lady, the four carpenters, and wearing number one, Dampé the gravekeeper. Nothing gets past a man who digs graves for a living.
And it plays like a real football game. Throw-ins. Fouls and free kicks. Controls for lobs, through balls and one-twos. According to Retro Dodo, there's even a character creator where you can build a player with the head of a cucco and the legs of Ganondorf. The creator, shonj352, says Claude wrote the base of the code, and that he tested and fixed everything himself and made the music, the logos and the models. His prediction? It's going to be bigger than Zelda. And then Link scores. One-nil, KFC. Finger-lickin' goal.
Next: Spider-Man 2's web-swinging, inside GTA Five. Not a skin, and not two games running at once. A modder reverse-engineered how Spider-Man 2's traversal actually works, the swings, the wall runs, the web-zips, the glides, and rebuilt it as a GTA mod. The clip plays both side by side. On the left, the real Spider-Man 2, with Peter. On the right, well, I'll let this X.com post do the talking: "Never thought I'd see the day where Trevor is web swinging Los Santos with his underwear."
One account sharing it says the whole thing started with a broken-English prompt about wanting Trevor to swing like Spider-Man. Honestly? Mission accomplished. Meanwhile, another mod went the other direction and turned Spider-Man 2 into a full-blown Superman game. Same New York. No webs required.
Next up, it's Modern Warfare 2, inside World of Warcraft. It's called Call of Warcraft, it's by lizzyizskinny7. You're in Northshire Valley, the human starting zone, with a Modern Warfare rifle in your hands, and the kobolds are not ready. When asked for comment, the nearest kobold said, "You no take candle!"
Here's how it works, straight from the project page. It's a two-process passthrough. Modern Warfare 2 supplies the gun, the arms and the weapon simulation, and Benilla, the fan-made World of Warcraft client from last episode, draws the world. Both games run at the same time, and you have to own both. The enemies get Warcraft rifles and shoot back, and your kills auto-loot. Modern Warfare's level can take two to three minutes to load, which is still faster than finding a healer. And the readme says the ragdoll death physics haven't had a live test yet. But she's posted a work-in-progress clip, and the test subjects were a wolf and a cow. The cow did not have a good day.
From one grind to another. This is Pokémon Redstone, by MozeTech: Minecraft, inside the original Pokémon world. Steve starts in the player's house in Pallet Town, walks outside, chops down a tree, and builds himself a cabin by the pond. Night falls. A creeper shows up in the flower bed. Then Steve takes a pickaxe to Professor Oak's lab, and the game tells him: "It's too sturdy to break." Finally, a building in a Minecraft world that's up to code.
Then it gets wonderfully weird. Steve walks into the Pokémon Center, and the nurse restores his Pokémon. Steve does not have any Pokémon. A wild Mankey appears, and Steve doesn't throw a Poké Ball, because Steve is the Pokémon. Level forty, ten hearts, and one move: "Steve swung." MozeTech says the first version was an experiment that hit 1.4 million views, and so many people played it that the host couldn't keep up. Retro gaming sites in English and Japanese have picked it up, and the new version lets you beat Minecraft from Pallet Town. Catch the Ender Dragon, claim the egg, enter the Hall of Fame. Gotta punch 'em all.
And now, the one that broke my brain. Hubert is an Overwatch player, rank one tank by his own bio, and last week he put Overwatch inside Elden Ring. The caption was a team-finder ad: "LFT Tank, FaceIT Masters+ only. Rank 1 peak. No lowballers." The next day, it was three games. Then four. Then eight. Then eleven. Fortnite, Five Nights at Freddy's, Elden Ring, Rocket League, Modern Warfare 2, Jujutsu Kaisen, DOOM, Overwatch, Titanfall 2, Halo and Apex Legends. His caption: "I AM player one." It spread so far that he got reported for stealing his own video.
Here's what eleven games looks like. You drop out of the Fortnite battle bus over Elden Ring, glide down, and suddenly you're driving a Rocket League car, boosting into enemies. Then you're calling in Modern Warfare's AC-130 on Elden Ring's monsters. The HUDs from different games are stacked on top of each other like a real game that somehow exists. He hasn't said how he makes these, so we don't know if it's one giant mod or a lot of very patient editing. But he went from two games to eleven in four days. His newest one adds Zelda, so Link is in Elden Ring now, hearts and all. By Halloween, every game ever made will be inside Elden Ring.
Before we slow down, a speed round of what blew up this week. Elden Ring's combat, rebuilt in Rust and dropped into Skyrim by a modder called Funny Bones. Two million views, and the account sharing it says the Skyrim port took five minutes. Counter-Strike 1.6, inside Warcraft 3. It's called Warcraft CS, by Yazgul: an AK-47, walking through an Undead base, and honestly, it looks eerily natural. And going the other way, someone put Warcraft 3's Stratholme inside Quake 3. The undead join the match like Quake bots. "Zombie joined the red team." "You fragged Abomination." And Skate 3, inside GTA Four. Someone looked at Liberty City and thought: this needs kickflips.
After all that noise, something peaceful. Theoatrix, a RuneScape YouTuber, posted one line: "I put the Runescape map into Skate3." That's it. That's the post. And it's beautiful. Castle walls with blue banners, rolling green fields, fence rails, a pub with bottles behind the bar, and a sunny desert town, all low-poly and all skateable. No run energy. No Agility level. Just vibes. RuneScape players have been grinding for twenty-five years. Now they can grind rails.
And now, the post that started this whole wave was a guy named Tobyn putting Minecraft into Elden Ring, with this caption, which I will read exactly as written: "I put the entire of game minecraft into elden ring as mod. its runs on Mac." Twenty-two million views. And since then, Minecraft has gone everywhere.
Minecraft in GTA Five, against a five-star police chase. Minecraft bedrock, versus GTA Five's unstoppable train. Round one: the train went straight through, and the caption just said, "L, AI." Round two: bedrock wins. Thirteen years, and the train finally stopped. Minecraft in Red Dead. Minecraft TNT, flipping cars in Cyberpunk. Two Minecraft dimensions, landing in Los Santos at once. Minecraft in Mario 64, built by hand over two months. Minecraft in Ocarina of Time. Minecraft in Portal 2. Minecraft in Slime Rancher. Minecraft in GTA Four, with an elytra over Liberty City. Minecraft in San Andreas. Minecraft in World of Warcraft. And then Minecraft started fighting back. Counter-Strike, in Minecraft. Call of Duty zombies, in Minecraft. A Halo Warthog, in Minecraft. osu!, the rhythm game, on a giant screen in Minecraft, fail screen and all. Modern Warfare trickshots, on a skateboard, in Minecraft, ending with a tactical nuke on a village full of villagers. And Attack on Titan, in Minecraft, which went viral as "made with Claude." The replies say it's actually Danny's AOT, a fan mod that's been out since last Christmas.
Then Minecraft escaped into real life: someone dropped Minecraft TNT into Google Street View and blew a crater in a street in Amsterdam. And then, inevitably, someone put the entire of game Minecraft into Minecraft. As mod. Its runs on Minecraft. Someone else put the entire of game tic-tac-toe into Connect Four. Its runs on Mac. We have officially run out of games. Minecraft has eaten them all.
And much like the Minecraft TNT, we must ask ourselves: why is all this exploding now? AI coding agents made it fast to figure out how a game works and wire it into another one. So how do you pull this off yourself? Several companies have already built MCPs that solve this for you. Plug one into your coding agent, and it works out how a game is built, reads its code, and even plans two games running at once. But this week, the party also got its biggest takedown yet. One of the most-watched gaming clips of the week was GTA Five, running in a web browser: no install, story mode, even on phones. Within hours, the site was gone. Pirat Nation reported that Rockstar's lawyers took it down, and that it was built on leaked GTA Five source code. For a moment, the site just said: who wants the source code? A day later, Skate 3 showed up in a browser too, and its creator is already joking about when the DMCA notice will land. That's the line. A mod for a game you own is one thing. Leaked source code is another. So if you try any of these, get them from the creator's own page, and remember: a mod runs with full access to your computer.
So tell me: what's the mashup you've always wanted? Zelda in Dark Souls? Mario Kart in GTA? Put it in the comments, because at this rate, somebody will have built it by Friday. And if you want the story of how fans cracked these games open in the first place, our decompilation episode is right here. Oh, and my robot just informed me: "I put the entire of game Nora into robot as mod. Its runs on Mac." I'm choosing not to ask.
